Now, now you know how people dont like negativity, just be positive and the traffic will clear up, or tell yourself its not DC traffic or Atlanta traffic.

Hang in there -- they will build more roads, that should solve the problem.

Major flaws which are unfixable:

1. No East-West limited access roads: For a metro area of our size, there are exactly zero East-West limited access roads with the exception of I-275, which does not serve major residential areas within the metro, and just serves to connect Tampa to Pinellas County.

For instance, if you live in Westchase, or Oldsmar, or heaven forbid, Palm Harbor, you have NO easy way to get East. You fight Hillsborough Ave, or Busch or Waters or something. Loads of traffic lights, horrible.

2. Few North-South limited access roads: Well, you have the Veterans Expressway, I-275 from Malfunction Junction North, parts of US 19, and that's IT!. Dale Mabry is a joke at rush hour, but it's your ONLY option if you live in Carrolwood or points North. And until the construction on the Veterans is done, it's a parking lot around the airport from 4-6pm Northbound, and same in that area in the mornings.

3. Roads we do have are insufficient: Roads like Linebaugh through Westchase to Gunn are only 4 lanes, West of Countryway it's 2 lanes! Busch, Fletcher, Bearss, all 2 lanes! Dale Mabry should be 8 lanes and get rid of the bridge restrictions at Busch and Hillsborough on Dale Mabry

4. Traffic light synchronization: DO IT!

I'm so fed up. I have lived here for 20 years and it's never gotten any better.

I think half the problem is infrastructure- related, and the other half is "we the people". Infrastructure can help with the sheer volume of cars, but it cannot account for the dumb things people do when they get behind the wheel.

Traffic reminds me of the quote from The Devil Wears Prada: "by all means move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me."

^^^^^^That whole part of town is a traffic "BLACK HOLE".. Very limited North-South roads. I have been driving those roads for 40 + years and the traffic lines get longer all the time. Traffic around Westchase Is a joke. Once you leave the Pretty Brick walls you get swallowed up in traffic.

Doing nothing wont solve anything either. it's also not causing people to NOT move to the area.

Our leaders have no vision for transit, it's sick.

Light rail and heavy rail and more busses are pipe dreams. Public transportation in a metro our size is not a solution. Yet they arent building or expanding roads... it's absurd

So we just build more roads and more roads. Tear down miles and miles of businesses and homes for more roads.
