Currently shopping for a home in the Safety Harbor area which we love. Del Oro Groves peaked my interest but I worry about the homeowners association. To me HOAs have always seem unnecessary and cause more harm than good, unless you're in a lower income neighborhood which attracts the type of people that wouldn't keep a neat yard/house.

We keep a well kept and clean house and I don't think we would have any issues. We are boaters and have a small boat that would fit in the garage. We also have a small sailboat that I would keep in the back yard which wouldn't be seen from the street. Reading the deed restrictions it seems like this would be ok but I'm not sure.

I also worry about the occasional time family is in town. Will there be an issue with short term street parking? Keeping a car in the drive way?

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

The deed restrictions:
15.
No (....) boat, personal watercraft, (....) shall be parked in the subdivision either on subdivision streets or at any residence or on any lot, except in a closed garage or out of the view of the public right-of-way(...) .

To me that means that as long as the sailboat is behind a fence there wouldn't be an issue.

Just be careful because there is an urepaired settlement issue home currently for sale in that neighborhood...a claim was made about 7 or 8 yrs ago...it was not repaired...although the interior of the home was "remodeled" around that time...
