This is for anyone in the Tampa Area. Does anyone have any info about the THE LASER SPINE INSTITUE, 3001 N. Rocky Point Dr. E, Tampa, FL 33607. My wife has some severe back pain and we are thinking of going to see if they can help. We want to stay away from open back surgery if at all possibly. Thanks for any help or advice.

Larry

I have responded to your question via PM due to the nature of the medical details. I can highly recommend Dr. John Small of the Florida Orthopedic Clinic. Details are in the private message.

I am sorry this is soooo late. I have been to Montana for 3 months, have had a hip replaced, and my wife has had several Lupus Flare ups.

We did not go to LSI. We went to another doctor, he would not do surgery but sent us to the Tampa Pain Institue and she received tremendous results and only goes to the pain clinic about ever 6 to 8 months for relief from her pain.

Thanks for asking.

Larry

To manjj: I never received any response to the LSI but I did call. The fee is about 11 thousand dollars and has to be paid before any procedure is done. From what I found out, most insurance will not pay for this procedure, I have 2 and neither would pay. But I did get some info from NH to FL Mom about a doctor that we did go see. Here is his info: Dr. John Small of the Florida Orthopedic Clinic, and here is their web site: Florida Orthopaedic Institute - Keeping You Active (broken link). He is a super doctor, took time with us, determined that my wife did not need surgery, sent us to a pain clinic that is also a super place to deal with and super docs for sure. Here is their web site: Tampa, Florida - Pain Management - Dr. Edgar D Ramirez MD - Spine Treatment. My wife saw Dr. Edgar D Ramirez MD there and he is really super. Heidi has no pain the night after the treatment from Dr. Ramirez and the treatment lasted for almost 4 months before she had to go back. Dr. Ramirez gave us the name of a pain Doctor here in the Atlanta area so we wouldn't have to drive to FL. all the time. She goes there now about every 4 to 6 months and has tremedous results. So I have to give thanks to NH to FL Mom for her advice and she really lead us in the right direction. Wish you luck with whatever treatment that you decide to go with. Let me know how things go and you may email at my PM email address. Good Luck.

Larry,

I have had 2 cervical spine surgeries. My injury is 25 years old. I have been to many horrible doctors. Dr. Carissa Stone On Dale Mabry Hwy is the best for chronic pain mangement. Look her up.

Larry, thanks for the reply on the back pain. What type of treatment would a doctor give at a pain clinc? I have had two injections in my back and the pain was terrible! Went to another specialist and he said my back was shot, suggested back surgery with plates and screws(YUK!). Very depressing! Pain is down now, but flare ups are bad. Would like to find a pain clinic in my area. Thanks.
