It's not so high in certain areas. Hernando and Pasco seem to have the most sinkholes in the Tampa Bay Area, but even in those area most are not the "swallow your home whole" kind.

In Pinellas they are in the northern part of county, mostly.

They can pop up anywhere. East Hills county gets them also thanks to the farmers.

Actually, northeast Pinellas (east of Lake Tarpon area) is void of sinkholes on the maps that "I" have seen so far. I don't know why that is.

Sinkhole formation in Tarpon is no surprise to geologists

As someone trying to buy, I can echo that article. It's getting pretty annoying to get out bid when you offer asking or above asking prices by cash investors.

The article states "In the remainder of Pinellas County, south of Palm Harbor or east of Lake Tarpon, the odds are obviously significantly less." What I would love to know is why is where we are, which is on the land directly on the east side of Lake Tarpon, less likely to have sinkholes. Why are there none recorded, that I know of?

What is an institutional investor (example?) doing with these homes? I have not seen this yet. Thankfully.
