My family and I are moving to 812 E Baker from Chicago and I have never been in this neighborhood.

Anyone know how safe it is before I sign my lease?

Thanks!

Tampa in general is safe, you don't have to worry about stray bullets or gang affiliations, having said that that address is Ybor VM so as far as the city of Tampa goes is on the bottom of the socio economic scale and that has it's inherent issues like poor performing schools, etc.

You are going to be half a block from a VERY busy highway. I don't think the area is all that great.

Google map shows the highway almost next to the house. Pass on it. Wait and pay for a week or so in a short term rental. NEVER NEVER rent a house with a lease without seeing it with your own peepers.

In general from my experience, any house for sale that has bars on the windows should be passed on.

Realtors would spin it as an "up and coming" area but yes, steer clear of that neighborhood.

In fact, skip any Tampa neighborhood with the word "Heights" in the name. My $.02.
