It was "Wierd" in 2008, but it isn't anymore.

Tampa is definitely not boring, especially for UT since it's surrounded by all sorts of cool places like Ybor and Hyde Park. You can walk/bike/streetcar to all core 'hoods except Palma Ceia. Plus not mentioned here is while Tampa is lower in profile compared to MIA, it's safer and more livable. I'd say that's important at 18 or 48. I'm a 26 year old student btw.

I guess it depends on what you like to do. The beaches are nice, but are more crowded than what I'm used to, except in a few places like state parks. The downtown is SO WEIRD. It is all just office buildings. Most of the things you would expect to find in a downtown like nightlife or restaurants are in Ybor City or South Tampa. One thing for me as a nature person it has been disappointing. It is not a great place for outdoor sports unless you like to sea kayak in the heat or walk through a swamp with tons of mosquitoes. I do like running along Bayshore Blvd because you can see the bay and the downtown in the distance.

In my opinion it was boring, beaches and orlando were atleast an hour to two hours depending on traffic and I just couldnt justify spending money on gas and when i got there, I couldnt find nearly as many festivals as from where I moved from (and now live again) so in my opinion yes it was boring. However, I dont think some of the surrounding areas of tampa are boring like St. Pete or Orlando.

To be honest - yeah, it's relatively boring.

I cast my vote for Boring. It is Bored Certified. The downtown is lifeless. It is not a particularly exciting "city". Sorry, Tampa.
