Ah the famous Tampa bay Metal scene. Such bands as diecide, morbid angel, cannibal corpse, Obituary, Death, and so many more are from tampa. In the metal community Tampa is famous for producing excellent and brutal metal. But i'm curious, is the metal scene in tampa still alive and thriving today?? Those who know let me hear what the death metal scene is like in tampa today!!

The lack of responses is not encouraging lol. Course i can't imagine the guys from Deicide casually leaving me a post here, they're probably creating more brutal death metal as we speak! Oh well perhaps the bands are great, but the metal community leaves something to be desired?

Many of those metal band members have moved on to other pursuits in life. Johnny "Tear her Heart out and Stomp on it" Pagliarine, the former bass player for the band Coffins for Congress, has become the evening greeter at the Wal-Mart at Dale Mabry and I-275, while the singer from that band, who captured the heart of many in the Ybor clubs of the 90's, is now selling yogurt buy the cup at the International Mall.

Oh, how I yearn for those 90's........

Yea i'm used to posting on the cali boards and such, where tons of people respond in like a couple minutes lol. But alot of the bands im talking about are still going strong to this day, putting out excellent albums and hitting the tour path, and i think many still live in tampa. I dont know the band you're talkin bout, but at least many of these classic bands are still goin strong. If any knows more bout the metal scene, let me know!

The metal scene is fairly dormant, though a few bands are still around. St. Pete has a vibrant, eclectic musical scene- more indie than metal. Tampa's live music scene is dominated by the WMNF -type bands. Neo-folkie stuff that appeals to aging baby boomers.
