and even after that section was open we still experienced heavy traffic starting at BBD and getting worse by Fowler. Yes, the widening got rid of bottle neck situation, but didn't reduce the number of cars traveling that direction
sure enough if you leave before 7 am or even before 6 you will not get much traffic... even on I-275 towards downtown

I have a similar commute from Lutz to downtown and the traffic on 275 is pretty bad (but I came from DC, where it was worse). On a summer Friday it will take 20 minutes, on a rainy day with an accident it will take over an hour. If being stuck in traffic does not bother you, then it should be okay most of the time. Just have 2-3 alternate routes for when there's an accident and it really does not move.
