Hi everyone,

How is the commute from Clearwater area to downtown Tampa? Other than rush hour is it usually a smooth ride?

Thank you

I dont think smooth comes to mind, especially with the construction on i-275. It will be in about 3 years, rush hour is a relative term when it comes to going east off the Howard Franklan, 2 lanes its just not enough to handle the flow most times of the day, it does clear up after Dale Mabry, not that is goign to be bumper to bumper 24/7 but it might be when you are not expecting it. The smoothest way into DT from Pinellas is the Gandy -Crosstown combo.

I haven't had much trouble with the Howard Franklin, but I don't make that commute often. I will say that I almost always prefer Gandy, though. And, as long as it's not rush hour, the drive through Downtown is pretty smooth.

Here ya go,The drive from Clearwater to Tampa, Probably taken on Sunday afternoon as week days and rush hours would have much more congestion.

Clearwater where? You could be towards Curlew Rd, Belcher, Drew Street, Gulf To Bay, Gulf Blvd...It's hard to say. Gulf to Bay is usually awful with a million stop lights.

I take that drive several times a week. Most of the delays are on the tampa side with 275. I find myself, many times having to take Kennedy downtown, with the traffic at a standstill on 275.
