Hello all..

My parents are retired and live up in Homosassa. When I visit next, I
want to buy live Maine Lobsters somewhere and boil them up at their
house.

So I am looking for the closest bonafide lobster pound where the
Lobsters are kept live in the tank. I am sure Homosassa is out, but
how far south towards Tampa do I need to drive? Is there a place
in Spring Hill? Newport Richie maybe? What's the closest place?

Thanks for the help!

Plenty of seafood markets in the area however i'd imagine Florida Lobsters would be much easier to come by than Maine lobsters.

OP, I don't know if this helps but I did a search on shipping live Maine lobsters and it seems there are a few companies who do that (if it has to be Maine lobsters for your parents)

Thanks for the replies so far. They lived most of their lives in
New England so it's Maine lobster that they miss. I'd like to find
a place in Florida that stocks them so that my Parents have a
place they can drive to and pick them up whenever they have
a craving for them..

My mom always orders from lobstergram.com and loves their quality. Yes, they arrive alive in the mail.

Sweetbay Supermarkets used to carry live lobsters, and since they have converted to Winn-Dixies, they have kept the tanks. Also, some Publix carry lobsters.

However, the prices are absolutely obscene. If you are used to paying $5-6 a pound in the Northeast, get used to paying $14-16 a pound down here.

Sanwa has them on Hillsborough Ave in Tampa.

Careful though, you may get addicted to shopping there with the variety and prices!
