the only real reason anyone is down here is the winter weather or climate in general. If tampa was a cold weather location it would be Detroit, Cleveland or Baltimore. So the main interests of residents (hard to even call anyone a local as its so revolving door transient and almost no one is from here) are outdoor activities like golf, fishing, water sports, boating, beach, etc. Realize mid may through mid October it is almost dangerous to be outside for long periods of time especially if doing strenuous activities.

Area has a ton of cultural things to do. Disagree with your comments comparing Tampa with Baltimore, Detroit. I wouldn't dare walk the streets of either without a bullet proof vest and a handgun.

Tampa always felt like a Midwestern city to me. You know, aside from the weather.

I'd like to see the stats that back up any of your claims.

We go the Florida Aquarium often, and enjoy our time there. I like walking around the Port of Tampa and Channelside.
