Hello all,

I am looking at renting a townhouse in Riverview. How is this area? I will be working near the airport and it looks like the commute is about 30 minutes, which I am ok with. I am single and moving from Minneapolis, so I am not sure familiar with the area at all. Is this an area that would be recommended?

We relocated to Riverview from Ohio just over four years ago. I researched for years and took numerous exploratory trips before we bought our house and moved here. Riverview is a very convenient location. We have easy access to I-75 and the Crosstown. We can be at the port/downtown in about 20 minutes and at the airport in about 35 minutes. Shopping and restaurants are all over this area and the mall is just north in Brandon. We haven't had any problems or issues here and I feel perfectly safe walking our dogs in our neighborhood at all hours of the night or day. I have single friends that I play Bunco and/or kickball with and none of them have had any safety concerns or issues either. It'd be hard to beat this area for affordability, convenience, shopping, and access to highways.

I think if you are working by the airport then you'll either want to be in S. Tampa or someplace like Carrollwood which is closer. It will cut down on your commute considerably.

I would recommend Carrollwood as well for both living and commute time.

Thank you, I will check Carrollwood as well! My current commute is about 8 minutes so I'm a bit spoiled. I'm not afraid of a longer commute, especially since there will be no snow, but I don't want to spend a ton of time in my car either.
