With the way things are going, expect this area to be more like I-75/60 within 10 years.

Bad traffic, and I also predict SR-54/56 from US-19 to Z-Hills will turn into another US-19 (i.e. Highway exit ramps) within the next 20 years.

Anyone else thinks this will happen?

there doesn't seem to be proper community development whatsoever in the TB area - agree

Right at least Brandon was developed over an existing town so there are through streets, but over in the land of the cul de sac, there is nothing to do but sit in traffic.

I would not be surprised to see SR 54 go to 8 through lanes (4 lanes in each direction) plus turn lanes between I-75 and the Suncoast given all the development. The corridor was not planned well. It should have had a parallel local road on the north side and the south side planned so that when each development came in, it put in the planned facilities.

The problem with 54, is that you have to take 54 to go east or west. You and all you friends that is.. Its sort of like Bruce B Downs only worse. IF you drive down Hwy 60 there are few if any subdivisions on 60. If you live in the Brandon area there are too many options besides Hwy 60 to choose from. I believe in the last two weeks, I only was only on 60 twice, not to avoid it, but it was not needed. During the week I was also on Bloomingdale, Boyette, Lumsden and MLK having to go East and West. This week I will be needing to get to Hudson from 75. My only choice will be 54 or perhaps 52.

Well, I think developers need to take responsibilities and additional roads or the widening for existing facilities has to be done on their expense, not County.

I believe they will make a fly over or whatever it is called as they created near the Bruce b Downs and I-75 and I agree the County failed on this one to have this prepared prior to the mall opening and all the other development going on as it will be a mess on certain times or days like I wonder how Black Friday traffic will be unless the stores will make it more like last year with a Black Thursday/Thanksgiving shopping.

However the deals are usually better online and easier to get so that may be a good thing for the future for that time of the year but still traffic will be horrible and they should do something to close off the second left lane or making the lane start earlier as many cars driving in the middle lane end up braking and cutting off other cars who are standing neatly in line and are the major cause for car accidents but understandable that people will try to skip the line as some drivers leave such a big caps in between their car and the car in front and by starring on their cell phones they fail to start driving when the light turns green and annoying drivers behind them who have to wait more times for the light to turn green again.

There will be some relieve when the new exit will be created between exit for St Rd 54 and St Rd 52 near Overpass as a lot of traffic will than avoid Bruce B Downs and hit I-75 from there.

You have to wonder what people are thinking when they drive out to all these subdivisions on 54. Do they even notice the one major road is all they got anytime they need to go somewhere? What is the point to complain about traffic after they purchase the house. Was that not something they considered while weighing the pros and cons of the area? Did they think that the building was going to stop once they purchased their house?? Look around and see all that open land? those will be houses some day!
I scratched my head while working on the homes on Bruce B Downs as well 20 years ago. Sure enough it wasn't 5 years before the locals were complaining about the traffic. It has been and always will be the same.. I will admit that 54 was special, It was the perfect storm of all traffic jams in the making. Once they built 56 to connect to Bruce B Downs it was game over. Watching them extend the exit off 275 to Bruce B Downs and then the one to 56 was all you need to know.
