Are schools a concern? What is your budget for an apt? How long a commute are you willing to make to work?

You need no concern for disasters, as you say. It has been a very long time since a hurricane has hit the Tampa Bay area. You should state if you need 1 or 2 bedrooms. There's plenty of apts in the area in nice areas where you could rent. Not in high class areas but there's plenty of them for your budget. I'm sure some of the others in this forum will tell you some places in the web to look first. There's plenty of helpful persons in this forum. Good Luck!
