Well you left Florida for a reason, right? Wages just aren't that high here.

The large number of folks (800 per day) who are fed up with the frozen north drives the wages down in FL.

Wages have always been lower in the south compared to the north.

When they retire like I did, the ones comming here say they are sick of the cold and snow to each ther own I stuck it out working 40 yrs in Michigan. I was born and raised there so winter was no big thing to me. And when working for Chrysler I made a great living Florida is a retiree state.

You will need to factor in the costs you are paying for everything up there, including taxes/fees and what you would down here, depending on where you choose to live.

$20/hr manufacturing here? Not sure there will be a lot of that for a person just starting at a company here.

Also, only giving it 9 months up there does not seem lot a lot of time. It can take 2 to 3 years to settle in, in a new place. Are you sure you are not jumping the gun a bit?
