Does anyone have experience between the two?

ATT who we have as our cell phone provider will only let you keep unlimited data if you get Direct TV or have a Commercial plan which we have now but ATT will probably deny that it is a Commercial plan once they can figure something out to get out of that. Right now we get 20% discount on our plan for having that Commercial plan as they called it but they probably will rename that to something else just to avoid having you keep the unlimited data.

For years they tried to get us off the unlimited with all kind of B.S. but we kindly declined all their offers as after they even spelled it out they recognized it would in the end be more expensive.

Any experience is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't recommend Direct TV and the main reason would be a lack of TV during bad weather. Think about summer time and rain season - there will be no TV during that time. It might be pretty upsetting (at least it was for me). Brighthouse TV is stable at least.

Ive had both once in Orlando and again here. Overall we liked the DirecTV channel line ups where you can choose a channel package and since its purely digital the picture is sharper than BH. As a new subscriber you will get a great rate for 1 year on a 2 year contract. The DirecTV control box acts as a DVR so no separate box for that. The only drawback is loss of signal when a thunderstorm cloud is virtually right over your house. The winds in those storms usually send the cloud on its way in a short time. I dont know if BH has it these days, bur DirecTV lets you pause live broadcasts and rewind/fast forward some programming.

We are dropping DirecTV soon and going with Hulu+/Netflix/SlingTV through a Roku. $40 a month vs $125.
Doing the local channels by antenna.

I'm happy with DirecTV but as has been stated, it goes out in bad weather (heavy rain).

Thanks for the replies. I guess with daily rain showers during the rain season we might be better off to stay and figure out how to deal with the unlimited data issue.

We had Dish in AZ and cable in FL before and after that. In my opinion they are largely interchangeable and they all suck.

To change my opinion they would have to start by having menu channel choice. I don't watch 100+ channels and I resent paying for them.

Rain was not an issue in AZ where we got only 7" a year.

I would go with Fios or Brighthouse vs Direct TV. Service is very good and I'v had little/no problems with either of them in the apst 8 years. The unlimited data on your phone is really just a ploy. Unless you constantly stream video on your phone while out of your house, you DO NOT need unlimited data. Just get an app and check how much data you REALLY use in a given month and I'd be surprised if you use even CLOSE to 2 gigs a month. You are fed a lot of crap about your data usage and believe it without knowing what you REALLY DO USE.

DirecTV has NFL Sunday Ticket, but beware the price hike in year two if you go that route.

You can opt out of Sunday ticket. It's kind of a non-issue in terms of added cost. But they do jack up the rates overall as the contract ages.
