My husband and I recently moved to the Tampa Bay area from DC after being away for 8 years. We're in our early 30s and very active. We are currently staying with my in-laws in the Carrollwood area, but are searching for a home on or near the water (lake/beachside). My husband works from home, so we're not limited to a certain area. It seems we have been all over the Bay area, from Lutz and Wesley Chapel to St. Pete and Madeira Beach. We have had no luck in finding a home.We have a 4 month-old child and would love to find a home in a safe area and close to fun activities on the weekends. We've somewhat narrowed our search down to Seminole, St. Pete (Shore Acres) and Dunedin. Are these areas safe? I'm not concerned too much with the schools yet as my daughter is so young and I feel this home will only be a 3-5 year home, however good daycares are important. I'm more concerned with making a good investment as it is our first home and not our forever home. We have a budget up to 300k. We're also looking for a great realtor in these areas, so would appreciate recommendations. Thanks so much!

I live in St. Petersburg, and the Shore Acres area does seem to have a lot of what you are looking for. It is a very family oriented neighborhood, there is a community center and a public pool. You are also right on Tampa Bay, so close to water, many of the homes have water access as well.

I like Shore Acres because it is close to downtown, but you're in a safe, suburban-ish, neighborhood. Being a little east in St . Petersburg, and a little separated from the city with bridges seems to keep the crime there low.

PM me if you need help looking in St.Pete!
