Just how bad are summers in Tampa ? Can you pretty much not do anything outside without dripping wet in sweat and being sticky and swarmed by mosquitos or is it blown out proportion? When it rains everyday between 3-5pm like they say is it refreshing and cools it off or makes it worse ?

I live in upstate New York , would the summers in Tampa be more humid than up here ?

Being on the bay does that moderate temperatures at all ?

What is winter like , I've heard it's pretty much SoCal weather from October to April 60-80 no humidity

But Are the temperatures and lack of humidity in the other parts of the year good enough to suffer through summer

Not if you hate humidity to begin with.

I dislike it , but I'm not sure if the humidity we get up here the whole end of summer is worse or the same as Florida

It is worse in FL. And it lasts longer. If you can't handle that and don't want an additional 3 months of that, then FL is not for you.

I can handle it , it's just not something I enjoy . I work outside so I enjoy spring and fall temps much more but when summer comes I kinda just deal with it , drink a lot of water

It is not that bad. The worst part is mid day when the sun is so bright and intense, but it's not bad if it's 85 in the morning or evening when the sun isn't out, except the mosquitoes. It will be worth the winter weather.

Realistically, it gets pretty uncomfortable during the summer. It is manageable, I worked outside for years in it and while it really sucks, drink a lot of water and you can make it.

The real downside to me is when I just need to do a small task outside and it then requires a shower and change of clothes because you are now drenched in sweat. Its more of an annoyance than anything, your body will get use to the weather eventually

As for the mosquitos, they can be pretty intense depending how close you are to water. The worst areas are heavily wooded and/or swampy (which tends to be most of florida). I find that some people really don't have issues with getting bit (myself) and others are magnets for the darn things (my wife and kids).

Along with the mosquitos is the fact that most mosquito repellents are terrible for your skin, you will want to find a natural alternative unless you don't mind the chemicals
