Besides looking at USF and University of Tampa for our Daughter, what are some of the good community colleges in the area? we are looking at Land O Lakes, Wesley Chapel and Riverview to explore for homes...We will need a back up plan for her..

Hillsborough Community College. Campuses all over. USF is going to be dramatically cheaper than UT especially if florida resident. I got a second degree and did a year at HCC then another year at USF. USF has campuses in St Pete and Sarasota which are easier to get into if one gets rejected from the Tampa campus.

As I stated in your original post, Hillsborough Community College. Many campuses throughout the county, lots of really good programs. Inexpensive and accessible.

The previous poster is probably referring to the "15 hour" requirement, meaning that if you have credit hours that are transferrable to HCC, you have to do a minimum of 15 hours at an HCC campus to earn a degree from HCC.

HCC will cost you about $9,000/year (if not a resident) and $3,000 if you are a resident. Another thing is major.... Certain majors are only at certain campuses (Ybor City HCC for music major).

Allied sciences for HCC are at the Dale Mabry campus primarily. Nursing is spread around between campuses depending on the course.

Again, she's better off getting her A.A. at HCC and being guaranteed a transfer into a state school than rolling the dice her sophomore year, as USF limits transfers significantly (they didn't give you numbers, did they?) into certain schools. For that matter, she won't be eligible for admission into most colleges, such as the School of Medicine, until she is a junior. That means she could only transfer into USF as a degree-seeking student without a major as a sophomore.
