They should be glad they don't live in South Florida. This is not a tropical climate - South Florida is, and it's much worse than here. The one saving grace is that it seems to cool off more at night down there.

That we're near water seems to help. Was inland Georgia last week and it seemed worse than here.

And that's what I've often told people about the weather here.

I grew up in the midwest, and I can assure you that the oppressive heat and humidity that we experience here was no worse, or even not as bad, as that in the summer in the midwest. I grew up in an agricultural area where we would be working outside all summer long, and it could be brutal.

I would attribute this mostly to a lack of large bodies of water and little, if any, breezes.

Not really nilly. When we are in a reverse west windflow no other place can compare other than Queensland down under. Only our area can have the reverse west windflow since we are east of the gulf. When a west wind is blowing off of 90 degree gulf temps it makes it feel like hell where i live with 24/7 sunshine and no rain for weeks at a time during the summer.

It only helps with max temps keeping them from going above a 100. Water makes it much worse here with dewpoints and humidity.

A lot of whiners in Florida

I'm loving the summer and waiting to enjoy the winter. Just back from trip to Chicago and southern Missouri and felt like I never left Florida for the most part

If you like hot and dry winters then you will like it here. We have very boring weather here.

I haven't checked the precipitation totals, but based on data from the Florida Climate Center the January trend (since 1895) is actually showing that temps are running cooler than historical levels, Feb and Mar have a basically flat trend. January trend is attached.

We have had warm winters since 1990 other than 1995-96 and 2010. I have kept weather records since the late 70's and i have seen much warmer temps since 1990 for the area i have lived in.

And that is what you call an anecdote. It's useless.
