Try shopping at the mall and nearby places at rushhour! you could go crazy between the accidents, uturns and mass congestion its down right a horrible place. Then go south of there to the next east west thoroughfare Causeway Blvd, this features a bunch of below average chain restaurants that are overpriced aka fords and first watch, a ghetto possibly creepiest Walmart in America

along with the nearby homeless camps and also have to put up with people who constantly cross 6 lanes of traffic going in and out of apartment complexes!

Now Brandon has been congested for sometime, but south of there in Riverview there just getting started. The growth the last 5 years has been ridiculous especially t he last two and its becoming dangerous!

that accurately describes my expererience living in Phoenix, Raleigh, Wilmington, NC and the time I have spent in Jacksonville, Daytona, Orlando, Syracuse and a few other places....including Detroit!

Where do you suggest for my situation if you are saying to steer clear of everywhere recommended?

paradiselost would have everyone believing that the Tampa Bay area is totally uninhabitable. Let's give them a few weeks to start tearing up Lexington, KY.

Don't feed the trolls.

OP, do your self a favor and don't take paradises opinion into account. Very bitter person that doesn't seem to know how good they have it here.

Riverview and Brandon are fine areas to live. Yes there is some commute during rush hour times, but nothing like large cities and nothing that would be anything close to a 1.5 hour commute to where your wife is going. More like 30 minutes. Plant city wouldn't be bad either, just depending how close to I-4 you end up.

Trolls? Not sure of your terminology, But I do know terminology in the academic areas of Urban Planning and Sociology. I am Not a bitter person, just stating facts from my recent experience in Hillsborough County! And PS Lexington is a much better area than Brandon and Riverview hands-down! The Urban Growth Boundary kind of helps! But I am sure you do not know what that is! Mod editersonal attacks are not allowed on CD.But for some reason I cannot speak my experiences the of Brandon and Riverview! Unreal!

Riverview (not Brandon)- Close to toll and I75. Rents are a little less too. Also you mentioned your current house is on a salt water canal and Riverview is minutes from waterways to the gulf!

What about the area north of Whiteway along 50th street? It's not the type of area I'm usually interested in, but it looks pretty close to 3 of the 4 places she needs to commute to. Streetview from 2015 looks ok, but most places that close to a university and theme park aren't usually the greatest areas to live. What do you think?

The immediate area around USF is nasty. Period.

Going north or a little east isn't too bad, but definitely not west ("Suitcase City") or south around Busch Gardens, both of which are high crime and transient areas.

Riverhills is older, but nice. It's east of 56th and runs NW of Whiteway. Were I to live in zip code 33617, this area would be my first choice.
