I haven't had satellite for years, but we had both Dish and DirectTV (at different times) when we lived north of Tampa in Dade City. CONSTANTLY lost signal, even in light rain. Everything about it was a hassle, and when you cancel you have to turn in the equipment. I would never get it again. For now I stick with cable, until I can convince my husband to drop the TV.

I used to work for dish out in Salt Lake City, out there it was great. The only time there was an issue is when snow literally piled on the dish.

i moved here, saw some friends with Dish and quickly realized that it is terrible here. They always had issues..

Try going to a sports bar during a rain storm and see how the TV's are doing.

If you're looking for live sporting events you can get everything for free on the net, with one app, if you know where to look. NFL, MLB, College ball, Nascar, Formula 1, everything! If that's what you're looking for let me know and I'll show you how.

Thx, but I am not looking at cord cutting. I am looking for the best technology out there and from all my research, DISH seems to have the best with the new Hopper 3. We shall see, as it is being installed this week.

I downloaded a couple of apps, which allow me to use my iPad to see the exact angle from the view of the dish. Looks like I have great shot from right above the main TV. Hopefully we will get rain/storms afterwards, so I can see how much it gets affected.
