Hello Everyone:

Im going to become a nurse soon, after that my family and I are planing to moving from Miami to Tampa,. We are cubans in the 30s. My husband works in the refrigeration field( appliances repair, air cond, ect). we have two kids in elementary one have an EIP because attention defficits. Miami is getting worse every year, more people coming, rents going up, and not chance to buy a nice house for less than 350s. We are living in Miami our last 12 yrs and we re kind of scared about the change. We are looking for a nice neighborhood to buy a house no more than $225.00. Our biggest concern are the schools, not only the rate, but also the reputation, all experiences you can provide I will aprecciated. I have read a lot of "A" rate schools reviews that are talking a lot about bulling. ?? is a bullying a mayor problem in Tampa than in Miami, or same thing?
So resuming, I would like your help on:

nice family friendly neightborhoods to grow kids
houses not more than $225.00
good reputation elementaries.( any experience with adhd kids)
traffic avisements
best hospitals for kids
soccer programs for kids in the parks.
low crime zones

thanks in advance, i know i have many questions, but I will appreciate any help

Hey,

I live in the Lithia area of Tampa which is just south of Brandon. There's a masterplan community here called Fishhawk which is extremely family friendly and a great place to raise children. All the schools here are A rated. You could find a nice home here for $225,000.

Crime is very low and there are plenty of sports facilities. I play soccer myself and see the signs for kids soccer programs all the time.

I will send you a private message with more info : )

A nice home in Fishawk for $225,000? Where? One of the condos/row houses?

Hi again,

Thank you both, I'm not planning to buy right now, I know the market is kind of higher at the moment but anyway you know the tendency of some areas over there.I have been reading much of the posts for Tampa-family relocation, but everybody looks to have wide different opinions and is not clear for me.

I really like to move out of Miami, I love the beach but, I don't go every day/weekend. I don't need the nightclubs/etc. I'm not a city person, but at the same time I don't want to be out-completely.

I just want a nice house to grow my kids in a quite -family oriented neighborhood, with good schools( for me being a "A+" rated does not mean a big thing- I'm looking for reputation, experiences from yourself, the one that have been there to tell). Not the worse commute-time. or so crowded so traffic be a real nightmare, and have good people around.

***What's your opinion ???

I agree with you, OP regarding Miami. It's a tough place to live. I do not like living here. Super crowded, super expensive, traffic sucks and it's like like annoying to go out and about. Like u have to deal with a lot just to like live life. I've been to Tampa many times. I think it's pleasant overall. Doesn't seem as "crazy" and by that I mean crowded and congested... I spend so much of my time sitting in taffic some days I wanna almost cry.

I noticed that many of the houses in Tampa has HOA and CDD, how does this work there? can somebody explain me? This could be a problem for those subdivisions with many empty- foreclousure houses, I guess...?

If you aren't looking to buy then the hoa n cdd should not apply to you. To some it up it is fee to stay in the newer communities in the area usually added on to your monthly mortgage payment.
