Hi everyone,

I am wondering if there is a Lighthouse (building) anywhere in the Tampa Bay area? like the one in Key West, the one across the street from Hemingway's house?

And.....where can I find older country type homes? like the ones upstate New York? that sit on large pieces of land and have barns attached to them?

This is for a Photography project....

Thank you very much,
Alexandra

There closest lighthouse to Tampa is on Egmont Key south of St. Pete near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

You can also find some older bay area homes and buildings on the National Register of Historical Places. National Register of Historical Places - FLORIDA (FL), Hillsborough County

Default Isn't

there a whole town maybe closer to Ocala or Orlando that's known for being old, lots of New Age and Wiccan stuff going on there? It's usually featured around Haloween I think.

Hi,

Ok, I read on their website that this island can only be accessed by private boat? well, we don't own a boat, so, how do we get there, we also don't know anyone that does own a boat............

Are there any other lighthouses around Tampa Bay?

Thank you,
Alexandra

We took a ferry over to Egmont Key. I think we paid $15. You can call the parks department and they can tell you. Here's their URL --> Main Page - Egmont Key State Park » Florida State Parks

The next closest lighthouse is at Anclote Key, but it looks to be off limits for restoration. If you're adventurous, there are several south of Sarasota. Look here --> district3_map (http://www.floridalighthouses.org/district3_map.htm - broken link).

Default As Tampa Karen says

there is a ferry from Ft. De Soto Park and if you want a bit more comfort at a bit more of a price you can take the excursion boat from Madeira Beach. That one has a bathroom I think the return on each of them is about 3 hours after arrival. I think both have snack bars. You can picnic on the island.
