My husband and I are planning to relocate to the Tampa Bay area. He will be retired but lives for ice hockey and will probably continue to play several times a week until he expires on the ice.
Has anyone had experience with any of the ice rinks in the area (or within an hour's commute)? I believe there are rinks in Brandon, Oldsmar and Ellenton.
Thank you.

Thumbs up you got it

the facility in Brandon is the Lightening's official training facility with 2 rinks.
If you live in Brandon, you will be far from beaches but right in the middle for all 3 hockey facilities. Ellenton will be closer but you can do Oldsmar in about an hour, worst case scenario.

Default Another Hockey nut.

I'm also retiring to the Tampa area (Spring Hill) sometime this summer. I've been playing hockey for over 40 years but I'm older, fatter and slower than the good old days. Does anyone know the quality of the over 35 leagues, I'm not looking to recapture my youth, just have fun and get some exercise. I'm currently playing a couple of times a week in Niagara Falls with group of guys ranging from their 40's to 80's.
