Just wondering if Tampa is a good choice to live in Florida. Just saw it on HGTV's "House Hunters". Looks like a moderate, comfortable town with nice beaches. True? How's the cost of living and the traffic? Also job situation for nurses.

Cool Tampa/St. Pete GREAT choice

About 8 years ago, I moved to St. Petersburg from the Chicagoland area where I was born and raised. LOVED IT. Instantly felt at home and lived there for 5 years until fiance wanted to move away to Ft. Myers. What a mistake. Pay, job market, people, housing, and cost of living so much better in Tampa Bay area. Go there. You will not be sorry. I am going back home to Tampa Bay as soon as I can and will live there till I die. I cannot say enough GREAT things about St. Pete and Tampa.

Horrible choice. Tampa is a VERY rundown city. Something you would see out in the midwest... like in Chicago or Detroit with a beach.

It is also # 2 (Saint Pete, which is right outside Tampa) and Tampa itself is #12 angriest city in the USA.

If you ever watch COPS on TV, you will see Tampa and Pinnellas county on Cops. Tampa is in Hillsborough county, but it is just as bad. Maybe even worse. Last time I went to Busch Gardens (in Tampa), I saw chickens running on the sidewalk downtown Tampa. It is like we just drove into downton Tijuana, Mexico. I kid you not!!

Have fun dealing with all the crackheads in Tampa.

jewel - I just watched that! They made it look like paradise of course and just keep in mind that the couple was only looking at pricey golf course homes There should be alot of nurse type jobs, there's a Dr. office nearly every other building! The medical field is big here with all the retirees.

Oh yeah! Ya know it's so strange to be sitting in traffic with 1000 other cars, boom-box music, concrete jungle and all that... and hear a rooster crowing! hahaha! I've even seen them get in the street and dodge rush hour traffic Never seen feathers on the road though...
