When we bought our house, the previous owner planted a four stemmed Robellini Palm right in the front doorway area. It is overgrowing the area.

My question - will I kill the thing or hurt it if I start trimming the leaves off? They are rubbing up against our windows and roof.

No you won't kill it but you might wanna consider moving it so its not so close to the house. Palms are easy to dig up because they have a ball root. If you don't want to do it yourself then any tree service or even the lawn guy could do it for you.

Yeah, I'd like to move it - but it's a 4 stemmed one that's already about 10 feet tall. Any idea how much that would cost?

I really don't have the place to move it to either - wonder if anyone would buy it?

You can put it on Craigslist as a free palm, but they have to dig it and fill the hole.

Like KPB said, palms have shallow roots that stay in a ball and it shouldn't be hard to dig up if you just want to get rid of it.
