Ok so it looks like we are narrowing down the areas..We really do not think we want a planned neighborhood as we will not use the amenities and as much as we love kids, we dont have small children anymore....So we really would like to be near water, and we do not need the schools we are concentrating on Palm Harbor and were told to look in N.Clearwater

Any input on N Clearwater? Safe? Shopping? etc

North Clearwater is lovely...older homes for the most part...shopping is great...Countryside is a pretty area older homes but nice lots with mature landscaping so you don't feel like your in Arizona!!! I have heard in Countryside your property taxes are higher but again check it out to be sure!

Irish thank you we are so torn because we love to be near the water, on the other hand we love the homes 10 -15 years old with an open floor plan...our best friends live in LOL and didn't want to be too far to them

Since we aren't on a time frame to come back home we will have time to explore the areas we are interested in, and see homes in each of them...

Good idea to take your time...I think I would opt to be closer to friends...but that's just me! Good luck!

I love Palm Harbor and Dunedin. I love north Clearwater a little less...

Remember Pinellas or Hillsborough taxes will likely be double or more than what the Pasco houses you were looking at.

Yes there are 3 homes in Palm harbor we like taxes are about 4000-5100 and believe it or not, some of the homes in WC and LOL are that much if not more..

I started looking in Dunedin it looks nice but know nothing about it...

It would depend upon style of home. Palm Harbor while certainly nice is a bit cookie cutter in my opinion which many do find desirable. NE Clearwater/Countryside tends more varied in style and looks in most cases more established as pointed out prior with more mature landscaping. If you like Countryside you might also look at the East Lake area which is north of 580 along either side of East Lake Rd heading north towards Tarpon Springs, including East Lake Woodlands. It has a similar feel in areas and not as cookie cutter with some variety. The schools are very good to excellent. Dunedin is a funny mix and isn't as desirable in as many areas as Countryside, since many neighborhoods in the southern half of Dunedin can be kind of rundown. The schools atypically aren't very good either. You hadn't mentioned Safety Harbor or Oldsmar so wasn't sure if you checked them out and eliminated for one reason or another...?? Either could be a good fit too and both have better schools.

Kyle great information as I do appreciate it considering we don't know a lot about the Clearwater area..We do not need schools so I am not too concerned about them...I am going to check East Lake Area and East Lake Woodlands...thank you for the info on Dunedin we weren't set on that town

How do I know a house is located in Countryside?
