On Top of the World Clearwater seems like a good place to have a winter condo. I don't see a lot written about OTOW, which could be good or bad. But, I'd like to check it out when I visit the area this fall. A second house isn't a possibility, because my wife doesn't believe I can take care of 2 homes (not very handy). I'm looking for a nice, safe, maintained 55+ "vacation" condo. Is OTOW Clearwater well built and maintained and worth a look? Thx.

We have good friends (snowbirds) who have a condo at OTOW. They have owned it for over 20 years and are very pleased. The condo is regularly checked when they are out of town. Maintenance found a water leak that could have been a real mess, but was just a minor nuisance. Nice part of town, well maintained grounds, free golf. Definitely worth a look. Best wishes!

We have lived in Florida in various places for 30 years. In that time we have known a lot of snowbirds. It is common for them to get tired of maintaining 2 residences, sell one, usually the one where it snows, and settle in one place.
A neighbor in one place that we lived said "no matter what you want, it is in the other place". It would be prudent to bear this in mind when making a decision.

It is 20 years since I retired. With age things change. I have learned: no stairs, a condo is less work, people in a 55+ community are generally better behaved than those in all age communities.

Top of the World Clearwater has a informative web site. There are approximately 9,000 residents. The other TOW is near Ocala in the central part of the state and is private homes.

TOW Clearwater is 2 and 3 story buildings, the 3 story ones have elevators. You can view units for sale at Realtor.com and other real estate sites.

I've never been inside the condos but I have been inside the common areas several times for various events. Those areas are in decent shape but ridiculously dated and due for a remodeling.

911 dispatchers and fire units call it End Of The World Condos because of all the medical emergency calls there.

If you do the numbers, a condo can be cheaper to run than a house, and somebody else is cutting the grass and cleaning the pool in July. It has worked for me for 30 years in different places.
