And to think people have a choice in all of this. The plan has been there all along, and they are just playing with the people. The Jefferson High School site has been selected long before the "failures" in Ybor city. That is why FDOT acquired the Doubletree ad Charley's Steak house 1 year ago. This will be the new multimodal regional hub for buses, airport people mover and light rail along 275. Tax payer dollars have been spoken for long before all this charade of having "permission" to speak with the Rays. And just like Miami, the owner will sell and keep all the money. At least there will be more infrastructure than just a stadium. There will be a real transit center, a new middle school and high school, and light rail.

That would require Hillsborough County to have vision. They have none.

Still think MLB is a hard sell in Florida. Look at Tampa and Miami game attendance....always in the very bottom.

Baseball is a summer outdoor sport. FL summers just aren't suited for it. And having once gone to the Trop, it's not a natural baseball experience. Fans want to go OUT to a ballgame, not inside.

Lets put it to a vote so we can stop the madness. Hernando County is calling your name Rays.

It also needs to be a winning team or at least a contender. The Rays do a great job with their limited payroll, the Marlins blew their whole payroll on one guy in right field!

Toronto plays indoors and seems to do alright with attendance. Houston and Milwaukee also plays indoors and do OK as well. All of these teams, and all "indoor" baseball stadiums have retractable roofs. Trop is only "indoor" that doesn't (really silly). Oakland, Cinci, and Pittsburgh all have open stadium but low attendance too. White Sox has relatively brand new stadium (open) and doesn't fill seats. Maybe it's putting the right team on the field as well.

Roof opens at Toronto, I've seen the field from above (from the CN Tower). The weather determines when the roof is open/closed.

Several teams have domes. Those with retractable domes often keep them shut. Houston, Milwaukee, Toronto.....put a good product on the field commensurate to the higher salaried teams and have a better stadium near the heart of the paying population, you probably will see better attendance. Tampa wants to be a world class city? Then major league sports is a necessity.
