I am planning to relocate from Dallas to Tampa/St. Pete in October, 2017. I have done my research on neighborhoods/districts in Tampa and St. Pete. I am looking for a trendy area that is suitable for a 28 year old young professional. I am gay, so being around areas of LGBT status would be nice as well. I work from home, so commuting is not of importance. I want to be within a reasonable distance from the gulf coast beaches and near a good nightlife area for young adults. My budget for base rent is $1K/month max. Can someone please give me several options of neighborhoods, rentals and parts of Tampa or St. Pete to look into? Thanks so much!

Ybor, South Tampa (SoHo), Downtown St.Pete. Tampa Channelside. Not to be negative, but the rent prices are higher than $1,000 in the trendy areas. Probably can do with a roommate.

You should target Historic Kenwood for sure. It will check off EVERYTHING on your list, is right by the interstate, and a 10-15 minute drive to the beach, a walk or bike ride to downtown, biking distance to the Bay, walking distance to tons of bars and restaurants, and it's very gay-friendly.

Channelside (AKA: Water Street Tampa) currently has no identity as it's undergoing a HUGE renovation. It will have a lot of construction holding it up currently. Ybor is really cool, but I still say Seminole Heights is where it's at. 275 runs straight through the neighborhood, it's about five minutes from Downtown and Ybor, it's the artsy area, cool restaurants, awesome breweries/bars, interesting shops, etc.

I would say Seminole Heights is good too. I live there and its very central and close to the major jobs in the Tampa Bay Area. If you have to work in Tampa proper and live in St.Pete, crossing that bridge every day will be a headache.

Lots of good advice here. Live near your work. If Tampa, Seminole Heights of downtown/Ybor, if St. Pete, definitely Kenwood.

Good luck!
