Atlantic is nicer than the Gulf-I do have to say though, Siesta Key/Anna Maria Island have nice beaches!

Hmmm, this is where I differ..my mom and my brother and his family lived in Orlando..it was about an hour to Cocoa Beach(the closest), and I have to say, my preference is the Gulf beaches over the Ocean beaches. Pass-a-Grille, Fort DeSoto, Caledesi Island - each about 35 minutes from South Tampa area.

Me too as far as the beaches on the gulf! They are beautiful!
I was just going to add that the two cities compliment each other well.
Tampa is older, more settled and offers more identity and big sports/concerts.
Orlando is IMO cleaner and newer, suburban like, and offers more accross the board entertainment. People complain about the jobs in Orlando a lot so I tend to think that Tampa may have an edge up on this category. If you have time to look around, you should check out both cities. A lot of people prefer one over the other and the two compliment each other well.

Thanks, yea i plan on renting at least for my first year just to get a sense of both areas and sift through job opprotunities from both cities. I do have to admitt that i like the pro sports scene of tampa with the lightning and bucs and i have to give the edge to the gulf. I have been down to florida eleven times out of my 19 years lol. My grandfather used to have a place in rockledge, fl so i have been to cocoa beach and its nice but i just like the gulf a little more. On the contrary, i have heard that orlando is where the big time money is so that still weighs in my thinking.

You might want to check out the Orlando forum.

I would suggest you find the job. COL is going to be about the same in either city.
