I am looking at relocating to the south Tampa area and attending IADT in the fall. Any advice on neighborhoods with a relatively close commute? An area where finding a roommate or two would not difficult. I will most likely be working restaraunt/bartending/hospitality to allow for my class schedule. Thanks a bunch

I have a freind going to IADT for Photography, she is renting a very nice townehome off Kennedy Blvd near Westshore Mall(the name escapes me), zip code is 33607. Beach Park off Westshore Blvd is the neighborhood, and about 10 minutes to IADT. Check craigslist and tbo.com for private rentals in the SOuth Tampa area...any neighborhood you will never be more than a 20 minute commute, pending traffic.

An apartment suggestion...

I have lived at Rocky Point for about six months now, and I think it is a great choice. It is gated, and feels very safe. Easy access to freeways, easy drive to downtown, South Tampa, Town & Country.

You can get a nice (not huge) one bedroom here for under $800, or share a 2 bedroom with a roommate. It is a pretty young community, 20's and 30's professionals. Laundry hookups are available, but washer/dryer not included.

I have lived in Tampa for 2 1/2 years now, and Rocky Point is the first place I would recommend to any young professional looking for an apartment.
