Yet another top 10 list thread with Tampa coming in at #8 for 2018. Take it with a grain of salt. 7 out of 10 lists are just made up stats, the remaining 5 are just wrong. It's fun to flip through anyway.

Bull crap! If anyone know about anything about statistics, the big no no is comparing average household income to median home rent , first of all. And then how they get to average monthly expense. oh my...

From the article

Quote:
GOBankingRates analyzed and ranked 270 cities in the U.S. based on their livability, taking into account the median home rent, groceries, utilities and transportation to ultimately determine the average monthly living expense for that area. That number then was subtracted from the average yearly income for each city so residents know exactly how much they stand to pocket after the expenses.
There is no way that you add median home rent, groceries to come up average monthly expense. What kind of math is that?

The only way this hold true is if underlying data are normally distributed and we know they are not. Don't waste your time giving credit for such a study. I guess it was slow day for Abc Action.

According to the US Census the average household income in 2016 was a shade over 51K, so not sure where they've cooked up the 80K number. Tampa (like Orlando and Miami) is also among cities referred to as being "rent inequitable" when it comes to percentage of salary contributed toward rental housing.
