How would you all describe Tampa in terms of fitness? Are people pretty fitness minded in the area and are there alot of gyms around?

Thanks.

Most people I know of do some sort of excersize whether is belonging to a Gym(which their are MANY-Calta's, Lifestyle, Bally's, Shape's, X-treme, YMCA-and that is just in South Tampa, not including ALL the personal trainers); or Biking, Blading, Walking, Running, Kayaking, Canoeing, Basketball, Tennis, Swimming, Flag and Frisbee Football Teams, Softball, Rugbee, etc. - nice to be able to do all this year round I might add too!

South Tampa is - It got one of the best per capita ratios of hard bodied drop dead gorgeous (even if surgically enhanced) women in america - and yes I'm including South Beach and California...

Yes and no...it's both unhealthy and sedentary, and also into the outdoors and into appearance (note that I do not equate appearance with fitness, since I do not consider tummy tucks and spray tans signs of fitness). However, all the outdoor sports enthusiasts prove that we do like fitness--people here seem to love biking, waterskiing, swimming, running, etc. Lots of gyms around stay busy.

So it's a mix, and depends on where you live and what you mean by "fit" as in "looking good" or "being of good health."

believe you me the women of south tampa aren't getting tummy tucks or facelifts - they have rock hard bodies and big (if often artificial) breasts - but they're healthy...
