Hi all,

I have a possible job offer in St Petersburg area and would like to get a feel of the culture and real estate market for the area.

I live in West Palm Beach area currently and really like the variety of activities going on, things like Yoga, art/pop up/marker's market, ballroom/Latin dancing/Argentine tango, also there are different restaurant/food from many ethnicities, not just chain restaurant. What is the culture/diversity like in the those categories?
Beside being coastal, not sure if Tampa is similar to Orlando in terms of traffic and culture , I used to live in Orlando area and did not like it as much.

My work would be close to St. Petersburg airport. I will be renting first and plan to buying a single family house without pool(no HOA or low HOA <$150 per month) in safe/nice area within 30 minutes of commute. School is not important as I don't have any kids. Prefer something that is not too old, built after 80s. Is it doable on a $200-$225k budget? Which areas/community would you recommend? Property tax?

Thank you for your input!

Tampa Bay area is nothing like Orlando.
Downtown St Pete is prob best for most restaurant and dining options, but not a lot of latin dancing or Argentine Tango, however if you are from S.Am you will be glad to know there is a football team (soccer) there. St Pete airport is accessible from most of Pinellas county quite easily and from W side of Tampa. You will not find much in the way of newer built property in pinellas county or better parts of Tampa under $225K. You can find possibly a 2/2 house further out, but then you have to travel, if you dont mind. A condo is almost definitely going to cost you more than $150HOA

Thank you Lavender. For now, I am looking to rent a large apartment/condo with washer and dryer in unit in nice safe neighborhood in St. Peters and surrounding area such as largo within my commute preference, budget around $1000-$1200. Are there any worth recommending?
