Hey everyone,,
I am seriously thinking of moving to Florida. I am currently living in Boston but I hate it. I grew up in Greece and I am used to being outdoors, at the beach, and having the sun in my life. I saw snow once every 10-15 years if that(and that was high in the mountains) I can not take another cold winter in Boston. The weather plays a big role in my life, and I hate to be stuck indoors, which I am most of the time in Boston. Being outdoors, the beach is a must for me. I picked Florida over California because it's cheaper in real estate property, and for many other reasons I read on this website. I hated earthquakes in Greece, so I'd rather deal with hurricanes. I realize it's going to be a hard adjustment living down there coming from Boston. People tell me the jobs pay pretty low compared to here. I've also met a lot of people from Florida who left and came to Boston, and told me they never want to go back down there because it sucks.(Filled with old people, no jobs, bugs, humidity, rude people) But I have also heard that it has much more nicer/cleaner beaches than California, not as fast-paced, and not as expensive) Whatever, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I can't comment unless I live there for at least 6 months so I can see how things really are. I am willing to give Florida a try, because I dont like it here in Boston at all! I just want to hear any advice ,,pros and cons on your views about Florida... I am considering going to the TAMPA area for the big Greek community.

Thanks!

Tarpon Springs is the place to look for the biggest Greek community, although there is a Greek church in S. Tampa. Pay is lower than Boston but the cost of living is lower in most cases. No state income tax but property tax and HOI are expensive.

There are all types of ppl in Tpa. young and old.

What are your interest? Employment? Budget?

I live to be outdoors, and the beach is a must in my life. I also I can't take the snow any more, or another cold winter. I need the sun in my life all the time.
I really dont like the fast-paced lifestyle here in Boston. As far as the employment goes I am still in college and I only get $9 an hour working a retail-job, so I am not expecting to find a $15 job down in Florida. I realize the pay is lower, but the cost of living is also lower like you said. Thank you very much for your feedback!
