We are a married late 30's couple with 2 elementary age children. We have lived in upstate NY our whole lives and our family is here. We would like to move to pinellas county in Florida within the next year and rent for 1 year prior to buying a home. What should we look out for? We like what we see about Clearwater but we want our children to be around a lot of other kids, of course a safe community, my husband is a finance manager for a large car dealership - will he have a hard time in that field in Florida? We are just starting our hunt and have not made any decisions except to visit in June, where should we steer clear of? Any and all info would be so greatly appreciated as we plan a big life changing move, thank you and God Bless!

Actually, if you've decided to come visit in June, I wouldn't recommend staying clear of ANY areas. Dig right into all of them when you're here, it will give you a better picture of the areas you like, don't like, etc.

Generally speaking, areas of South St. Pete are sketchy, while areas of North St. Pete are better. Downtown St. Pete is very, very nice, with little (albeit expensive) shops, a movie theatre, and museum (which show excellent exhibits). You also have the Salvador Dali museum there, and The Pier.
