I really don't mind it. Tampa is not my city of choice, but I really like Brandon and have had no issues since I have been here. Moved here in 2004.

As I mentioned in another thread, the only thing I don't like about Tampa is the fact that there is a lot of crime. Other than that, I don't have much of a problem with it. You just can't beat Florida's famous sunshine, or its tropical, exotic vibe.

I just moved to Clearwater from Orlando. I have already had a few negative experiences. I found a decent job. School systems here are Wierd! The kids in Pinellas county only got to school six hours a day! The beaches are prettier here than any where else in the state, restaurants do suck. But the cost of living here is cheaper than Orlando and there are more jobs.

I realized that Tampa is not a good fit for me. I've been in Chicago for 6 years and miss the big city amentities, especially good food (this is probably one of the biggest things). Also, the humidity/heat is not for me either. I'm moving back to Chicago in August! That being said, there is a place for everyone so even though it's not good for me, I can see why others might like it!

My only negative remark would be about the real estate. The bubble really did a number on the area and the taxes aren't justified.

Love the weather! There's so much to do for the kids here.
FL is a great place, economically, if you are making a great deal of money.. While the real estate taxes and insurance are higher, you dont have state taxes...
So, if you are earning a ton of money (lawyer, medico, etc) , you save a lot on state taxes

I have been here about 2 weeks.. Still living in a hotel near USF. Unable to find a neighborhood I like. Most of the people I have been around in this area are college kids or people that lack common sense, manners or communication skills. Some of the most rude people I have ever encountered. I know Tampa has more to offer, I just don't know the direction to take. My realtor may get fired as all he seems to know is foreclosed homes in New Tampa or other less desireable areas....Man I hate to sound so negative but I'm looking but can't seem to find the WOW in the area....

Are you looking in the USF area specifically? And what neighborhoods have you visited? Where all have you been in Tampa?
