Here is my situation. It sounds much like the "Yuppies in Tampa" thread below.
Anyway my wife and I currently reside in Hoboken NJ in an all amenities high rise apartment building.
Wife is in the medical profession I am in the financial. We love Hoboken because of the nightlife / restaurants and closeness to our jobs. However we hate winter.

We are set on florida but have only concentrated on the Fort Lauderdale area. Mainly because we know it pretty well (for not living there anyway) and because Las Olas Blvd seems like a perfect fit for us.

I would like to atleast explore other areas of Florida. The Tampa area sounds promising as well. So we are looking for a downtown life style - close to medical and financial centers but also close to nightlife and restaurants.
Please let me know where Ybor city is in relation because Ive heard that is a blast.

Would we do best in SOHO? St Petersburg? other areas?
Thank you

If you are liking the Las Olas area of Fort Lauderdale, the closest thing to compare would be maybe Hyde Park Village, and Hyde Park area, or Downtown St. Pete along the waterfront and Central Ave.
Ybor is NOTHING like Las Olas, picture a small scale French Quarter area of New Orleans, historic, lots of bars, nightclubs, restaurants, and funky shops. Its grittier than Las Olas for sure.
