i wonder why publix is OK banning plastic bags in SC stores but not in FL? i wonder how long it will take for them to ban them company-wide?

seems like they are very slow to make changes. i am still waiting for them to put juicing machines in the produce section so we floridians can get fresh squeezed juice.

Not all of Publix's South Carolina stores are dealing with a plastic bag ban yet. Retailers in the Town of Mount Pleasant and Beaufort County in South Carolina have or will have plastic bag bans in place.

Are plastic bags disappearing completely from grocery stores? Meat, produce, and seafood departments will continue to use clear plastic bags to put items that could be spoiled in.

The largest grocery store company in the USA, Kroger, is phasing out plastic bags. So are many others.
Plastic straws are also over. Soon, like incandescent light bulbs, you'll be hard-pressed to find a plastic bag, or plastic straw.
Publix will follow suit. Eventually.

Publix is the Archie Bunker of retailers, run by old men all wearing the same white starched shirts, hanging on to their 1970s idea of a grocery store and what people eat and how people shop. They will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into change.

Hopefully never. Paper bags and reusable bags are a pain to bag with. Might as well ban paper bags too considering they come from trees.

I'm no expert on the topic at hand, but something is suspicious about your post.
I'm believe recycled paper, most likely is used to produce bags. I could be wrong.

You can bring your own bags! Hope you wash them as they are prone to lots of bacteria.

Free country and I believe in feee choices for many items like who wants to bring their own bags and who doesnt

Plastics kill ocean and sea life; FL should be leading the way. Plastic bag/straw ban took effect this year at our other home in Mexico.

I have used washable canvas bags for years; I do not like paper bags as the glue in the paper bag seams attracts roaches....ewww!

I keep canvas bags on my doorknobs and in my car so they are ready to go when I go shopping. Once you get into the habit, it becomes second-nature.

With all the beautiful sea creatures (dolphins, manatees, turtles, pelicans, seabirds of all types) near our Gulfport home, it's the least we can do to help protect them.

I agree with you, plastic bags are the best! But no longer politically correct
