We own our modem so when they look to raise prices, we can easily switch to the other. Most of the time the retention dept will let us keep the intro price. If not the other company can switch our lines outdoors with out ever coming inside the house. We only have internet service with each, to make the switch so much easier. Right now we have frontier 500/500 @ 45.00.

Just what I told the person on the phone when I called an hour or so ago. "... they automatically increase on an annual basis". She denied it, saying they had not had a service increase for years. Of course not. They always call it something else but it is still an increase. Mine, according to her, were promotions. I had a promotion which expired. They gave me another promotion which cost $5 more. Repeat and repeat, year after year. Promotions expiring and new ones costing more. No one asked me if I wanted these promotions. Except that I am not buying these stories. Been around too long. One year they gave me a break and took back the $5 increase. Next year they increased my fee by $10. That got them their $5.00 back and I gained nothing.

The rule is don't think or talk about money. Just pay the bill and enjoy - until you run out of money. Then, go away.

Good night, folks. Hazel W

Spectrum has better internet service. Not sure if specific to my section in the city of Tampa limits.

I had an appointment with Frontier to install a land line (Spectrum no longer does traditional copper/wire land lines) and they were a no-show.

But I really like having a land line (more reliable, better reception), so I may give them another chance.

I think Spectrum has good customer care and fair pricing, though.

For a minute there, you had me wondering because I have a landline but it is not with Spectrum. Is it still true that, if you computer crashes or the internet fails, your landline also stops working? I think that was it at first.

Everything pricing with cable providers is always "for 12 months." And if you ask the phone rep what happens after that, they conveniently never seem to have an answer.
