I just want to make sure that you are 1,000% positive about this move. Because your school experience is not going to be good.
No, no, they're going to live in Venice with a work commute to Riverview. Because IB schools in Venice would be better than schools in Riverview.

IB or not, it's all relative. The schools here are still grossly inadequate compared to Massachusetts, even IBs.

People have to make moves due to career requirements. Give the OP a break.

Thank you for understanding, that is what it is. My husband has received a very good job offer. The beach is a big part of our lives now, I go a few times a week currently. Sometimes we just get takeout and have dinner on the beach. We would like to keep it that way. I know the schools are not comparable which, quite honestly, is my biggest concern. Getting away from the snow is also a big plus. While we didn't have a lot of snow this year, it was brutally cold and we had out head on through a good part of May.

Thank you for you advice.

We are relocating due to my husband's job. Going to miss the fried clams though. Not going to miss the snow and bitter cold.

No clarifying necessary. No way to add a "snark" tag, unfortunately. Roll eyes was a close as I could come...

I drove it today as I was heading south for the weekend. I left at 2:00 pm, not peak time, and it took 45 minutes.

I have been stuck in stop and go traffic between here and Venice due to accidents, construction and especially in winter when snowbirds are here. That is a commute that could take an hour or two hours one-way. It will get old. Not to mention that's a hell of a lot of time to be risking your life on 75.

When there is a wreck or two on 75 (and that happens often) you can be extremely late to where ever you are going. HOURS LATE. Many days it is a parking lot.

I have lived in the Tampa / Riverview area for over 25 yrs. I was also tired of the long cold winters of the northeast. The three things I like the most about Fl. is warm winters X 3.

I would not raise my children in Fl. and Riverview is in Hillsborough county. Not high on motor vehicle law enforcement or any other for that matter. The reckless driving and perpetual speeding contribute more to the traffic nightmare than the volume of vehicles. I consider this county to be the example of what happens with no discipline---little law enforcement. The land of disorderly conduct.

If I had a choice I would prefer a job in a civil area where I could give my kids a fair chance and perhaps live longer myself. However--this is a personal opinion.

I agree. It's a place to retire to for warm weather. Not a place to raise children. Not a place to attend college either, imo. But if a career requires it, you've got to pay the bills and make the best of it. I'd find a private school and take the hit with tuition. Maybe that would mean buying less of a house or buy a new car less often.
