I was in town yesterday and made a goof when I saw a sign for the East-West something (don't remember if it said highway but I was doing 65) so I turned off, realized that was wrong and had to mosey thru a neighborhood to get back on the 275 & 60 to get to Clearwater.

Even if I find search results, I don't find any 'East-West' on a map of Tampa. Big green transportation Dept. sign right downtown but I can't find what it is. Anyone know?

Also, had a thought to ask if anyone finds it easier, even if not quicker, to go from west side to the east vs. all the north south traffic in town. Was wondering if coming from Oldsmar to the fair grounds, for instance, was an improvement compared to many commuters' daily burden. A lot of the traffic woes seem to be the 275 going south and I-4 coming downtown as well.

Thanks!

Probably East-West tollway (Selmon Expressway).

Tampa has no east to west roads. The area sucks for driving around.

If no GPS in your car you can use WAZE on your iPhone. Google maps ok but just ok.

Yeah, I forget if it was Goggle maps or the default maps app on my iPhone. But when I was taking my Dad to Moffitt near the international mall, it would send us to the airport.

Exactly. Any time I need to get from Westshore to Temple Terrace, I have to drive just slightly east of due-north and continue on that trajectory around the North and South Poles just to do so.

I hate having no east to west roads here.

Thanks for all the 'there are no East-West roads in Tampa' replies. Actually there's lots of them but they're secondary streets, like Hillsborough Ave. But yeah, must have been East-West tollway or as mrviking identifies it, per a sign "East/West".

I hate bad signage. Like when they don't indicate which lane to get into.

Well, nice visit. Too bad my side trip to find a good (make that a comprehensive) beer store was a bust. I'm left w/a shack w/possibly some refrigeration, another probable no cigar way over in Dunedin and Total Wine locations. Maybe next time.

There are a few decent east-west roads.

Columbus Ave. will get you from the airport all the way to the Casino (or vice versa).
For instance if I'm on I-4 heading into Tampa and it's backed up I'll get off and take Columbus all the way through town.

Sligh Ave is another one , I prefer it over Waters or Hillsborough.

Busch Blvd

Ehrlich/Bearss Ave

* from Oldsmar to the fairgrounds you could take
Hillsborough
or Linebaugh/Busch
or Columbus.

Traffic is a mess here for sure! (too many people)
I grew up here so its no big deal but I could imagine if I hadn't.
