Single, attractive, young 54 yr old woman looking to make the big move from Southeast Florida to the Tampa area...where to live, where to work, where to meet people. Parents are also moving to the area...possibly Brooksville, Dunedin or Palm Harbor... but neither of us want to live next door to each other - just in same general area. One kid graduating college, next one off to Orlando to college. You get it, an empty nest. Don't play golf, might pick up tennis again. Love the Yankees and the Dolphins, the beach, good restaurants and fun things to do. Not into bars except for the purpose of socializing, networking and making new friends if that is the best way to do that.

I have worked for several corporations but currently I manage customer service, scheduling, insurance, etc, of a Physical Rehab Clinic and will pursue those job opportunities when I decide where I will live. I currently own my home but don't know if I want another home or townhouse/condo. For me the area needs to be safe. I want to shy away from a 55 and older community because I am not retired and although I love my family and kids, I don't want a known to be predominantly family area. I would prefer an area with older single adults to make friends and socialize if there is such a place. So, I need some suggestions and advice. I don't offend easily so appreciate whatever you have to say.

A lot of answers relate to your budget. You can research home prices on Zillow or realtor.com.

We bought our first townhouse condo in 1987, I gave away the lawn mower and haven't missed it yet. Townhouses are a good middle ground between a house and a condo apartment. Our first was all age, but all the units were 2 bedroom and families usually want 3 or more. Hence very few kids.

Dunedin and Palm Harbor are nice and also you could give Safety Harbor a look.

There are a number of medical facilities in the area.

I love Dunedin The seem to have something going on every weekend and lots of craft breweries, farmers market on Fri/Sat. and often they have crafts/arts shows. If you like the beach, Honeymoon Island and Caladesi are wonderful! We like to walk/bike the causeway.

Because she's looking to broaden her scope of answers which are beyond the reach of the single, unattractive, young 54 year old women who are not her.

I guess OP wants to assure us here on CD that despite her advanced age she is still highly f@#%able...so be sure to recommend places with other hot 50+-year-olds?? Otherwise, I'm not sure why one would put that into a relocation post...
