Its a large area with many different types of homes and neighborhoods.
Some areas are good, some areas not so good and some areas bad.

I have lived in Pinellas and Pasco over the past 30 years. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Pasco...

I can't wait to get out.
Its the low end of the Tampa Bay area.

If you can stand the traffic shoot for north Pinellas.

Hi
Come the Fall, I will be looking at houses in both North Pinellas and South Pasco.
Why Do you say Stay Away from Pasco ?

For starters, it's the current "meth capitol of the US", I think there are more drug busts in Pasco than anywhere else in the country. Cops are harsh, almost like characters in a movie. It's run down and cheesy. Lots of women frying up roadkill in a double wide while their men spend their pitiful salaries at strip clubs which line both sides of every road. Should I continue?

A little more direct than I would have been, but I agree. If older folks live in Pinellas, their parents live in Pasco County.

Non Chain restaurants of quality are nearly non-existent.
Some of the most trash littered roads you will ever see,
(and I have traveled in many states)

Lots of one tail light pick-up trucks. Want to start a new business?
Sell beer and cigarettes...you'll will be very successfull.

...it is changing but needs about another 25 years

Whoa.. that is a pretty harsh assessment for all Pasco county. I know many ppl who live in Pasco county and roadkill is not on their dinning menu. Strip clubs are all around FL , even in Pinellas county.

To the OP..what is your budget, buying or renting, shopping, medical care desires, needs. That will give us the info we need to direct you to an area that might fit your needs.

I would like you post a link to how you came up with it being the meth capital of the US. Meth is a problem in most areas.

Sorry, I don't have a link. It's just what I was told by the locals when I made the mistake of moving into the area.

Another thing I'm not used to is everyone down here chain smokes. Everyone but me. Go to a restaurant that has outdoor seating and you will sit under a cloud of cigarette smoke. Each table has overflowing ashtrays the size of serving platters. Grotesque. UGH.

I know I sound harsh. I guess I'm a little bitter. Not very happy down here.

Good lord. Most of your posts are so incredibly unfounded. Moderator cut: ..

I doubt there's even an area in FL that comes close to the Midwest's meth problems... or Washington State's for that matter.

I am sorry you are so unhappy there. It would really help the OP to know where you live (city) and why you dislike living there.

If it were you moving to the area, where would you move and why? Maybe Pinellas is where you want to live, give them what you find so appealing about that area. Maybe you just want to leave FL period. Why?

If you are a non-smoker, then I can understand your displeasure with the smoking on the patio, but that is something that is not unique to FL. If you are a smoker, you might not be too happy having to sit on the patio during the heat of the day, but I doubt that is going to keep someone from moving to FL.
