Gator makes himself at home - Bay News 9 (http://www.baynews9.com/content/36/2008/4/22/341817.html?title=Gator+makes+himself+at+home - broken link)

I couldn't find the thread that some one had up here asking about gators so I put this one up. It is very rare that something like this hapens.

I wish I could have seen the women's face when she discovered this gator, and hope she didn't got a heart attack. I would be so scared.

Whats the policy on handling gators? We've had a small 5-6 ft gator take up residence in the pond behind my home over the weekend. I'm not overly worried as my yard is fenced, however, my neighbors all have young children and pets which play in the yards. This is an accident waiting to happen, but a local Hillsborough Co. police officer told me the county wont move a gator who hasnt attacked or is less than 6 feet long. Is this true?

Yes it is and you don't have to worry to much as long as nobody is feeding the gator, which is forbidden by law. They have to be careful with walking their dogs to close to the pond since gators like dogs, to eat.

It is mating season and he/she may leave if there isn't another gator around. I know they will go from one lake/pond to another in search of love.

Looking for love in all the wrong places..must have been written for gators..
