We are thinking about a home for the winter. My husband and I are from Orlando, and moved to Tri Cities Tennessee a year or so ago. We really love it in Tennessee, but are finding the winter very depressing. We are thinking about buying a small trailer in a park for about 4 months out of the year. I see there are some very reasonable ones in the Tarpon Springs area. Can someone tell me what this area is like? Safe? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Any other area recommendations?

We lived in Florida all our life, but had enough of tourist areas and only want a quiet safe area.

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Tarpon Springs really wont fit your needs if you're looking for quiet and non touristy. The Alt 19 corridor through Tarpon is a congested traffic mess especially in season. That whole stretch of Pinellas County is over developed and congested imo. Years ago I was looking into the area from Tarpon, Palm Harbor, Dunedin to Clearwater, but as much as we liked the towns, it was just too crowded for our tastes for a place to live. Great to visit though. Downtown Tarpon Springs is definitely tourist oriented.

Maybe try the outskirts of Tarpon? We live in Dunedin and go up to the sponge docks from time to time and it’s definitely touristy at times.

Thanks so much. Are there any 55+ parks around there?

There are some in Dunedin and I believe also in Tarpon. I would do a 55+ community search for Tarpon Springs.
