A few more days until we leave for Tampa Bay - looking at communities for retirement. What are some "don't miss" things to see while we are visiting?
Attractions - museums- nature - parks - restaurants.
Thanks.

Columbia restaurant, there are several, but the one in Ybor is unique. They have flamenco dancers but you would need reservations more than likely..

I would also suggest going to Caladesi Island off of Dunedin taking the ferry over. Not crowded and a beautiful beach.

Tarpon Springs is a Greek community. Sponge docks and great greek food. Little shops and you can take a boat ride to see them get the sponges.

These are a few of my favorite places

Salvador Dali Museum (St. Pete)
Sunsets at Pier 60 (Clearwater Beach)
Sponge Docks (Tarpon Springs)
Honeymoon Island & Caladesi Island (Dunedin) --My hubby and I go every weekend!!
John's Pass/Maderia Beach (Madiera Beach)
Florida Aquarium (Tampa)
Lowry Park Zoo (Tampa)
The Pier (St. Pete)

Also, a lot of the baseball teams are doing their spring training and they are fun to go to!

You will also see Hobie Cats sailing off of the beach going to Dunedin/Honeymoon Island on the weekends. The water/sand where the Hobie's are is not the best, so just go to Honeymoon if you want to swim.

It will be impossible to miss the 125,000 moslems living near their onion dome mosque by the sea. Isn't it absolutely amazing!

Take a drive up Bayshore Blvd from Ballast Point Park/Pier to downtown...beautiful drive, and check out the Hyde Park area aorund the Village/Kate Jackson Park.

Learn all about the amazing history of Tampa in Ybor City at the State Museum, and have a Guide take you around Ybor, show you the tunnels under the city where the mobsters ran alcohol and such during prohibition times. Ask them about Charlie Wall.

I was going to say many of these same things. Love the Dali Museum, love the Sponge Docks (try to do one of the cruises, I think it's called Sun Line, down across from Hellas; daytime tours are for dolphins and plant life, sunset tours are romantic and fun). Aquarium is beautiful, St Pete Pier is great. Try to catch some She-Crab Soup at Frency's on Clearwater Beach.
