My family and I are looking to move to Florida for a job in Inverness. We want to be closer to Tampa and are looking at the Land O Lakes area. What would the commute from Land O Lakes to Inverness be on a daily basis? Any other areas that we should consider? We have a 15 year old daughter, 9 year old and 7 year old sons. Schools are important, as is safety, shopping, proximity to beaches, etc.

That would be an insane commute. You will want to live near or in Inverness if you will be working there. It is the boonies. You can forget all the items on your wish list.

It is certainly a bit of a hike from Inverness to this area, I remember having to drive there for soccer games with kids, ugh, long way. Miserable on way home if they lost haha. Anyway, I'm wondering if Ocala might not be better alternative for you? Just a thought. Depending on where the job is in Inverness, if you are not too far from Veterans Expressway, I guess Land O lakes could be ok, as the traffic is not so bad that end of the expressway as the downtown end. BUT if you think I-75 into town is a good idea, I'd probably say not so much as the traffic on there can be horrible. Especially commute times.
